PSAT testing

PSAT testing

October 2, 2019

Dear Parent and Student:

Richland High School is working to actively promote college awareness and preparedness for all of our students.  Our focus is to prepare all our students for college, work and citizenship.  In an effort to do that, we are offering the 2019 PSAT to all Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors on Wednesday, October 16th.  We know that by providing time within the regular school week for this important test, we will ensure that more students will be able to participate.

Students will receive access to feedback and planning tools to help them develop their skills and find the direction that is right for them:

  • Power Up Potential:  Historically, students who take the PSAT score higher on the SAT (Practice makes perfect)
  • Connections to Scholarships
  • Free SAT Practice on Khan Academy
  • Access to AP:  Identifies student AP potential
  • Actionable Data:  Data drives instructional planning to improve college and career readiness

The best thing about this test is when students receive their scores they are able to see what answers were missed and can develop a personalized plan to improve their skills.  All this practice will help with the SAT, which is a college admission test taken in spring of the junior year or fall of the senior year.

Wednesday’s schedule will be as follows and a complete schedule is on the next page:

Freshmen, sophomores and juniors will test from 7:55am to 11:30am

Seniors will complete the FAFSA from 10:00am to 11:30am in the Auditorium

Sincerely,

Tim Praino

Principal
