Congratulations to counselor Denise Reddinger for being named School Counselor of the Year at the recent conference of the Washington School Counselor Association (WSCA) for her outstanding work with students! In addition, Assistant Principal Jerry Riggs was awarded the WSCA’s School Counseling Administrator/Supervisor of the Year award for his support of the school’s counselor team.
Ms. Reddinger’s award has earned her a trip to a national school counselor’s conference in July as well as to a gala in Washington D.C. next year when the National School Counselor of the Year will be announced.
Ms. Reddinger has been in Richland schools since the 1995-96 school year, joined Richland High in the 2006-07 school year and earned her National Board certification in 2020. Fellow staff say she is one of the most innovative, passionate and hard-working counselors they have worked with while parents credit Ms. Reddinger’s attention, mentorship and guidance for helping their children be successful.
