Concert Bands & Percussion Ensemble

Concert bands and percussion ensembles typically include instruments from the woodwind, brass, and percussion families. These bands often use percussion to create rhythm or soundscapes. RHS offers students opportunities to join Percussion Ensemble, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. 

Jazz Bands

RHS jazz bands can include trumpets, trombones, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, a drum set, guitar, bass guitar, piano, clarinet and often, a vibraphone or marimba. RHS offers Jazz Band 1 (standard big instruments), Jazz Band 2 and Freshman Jazz Band.

Marching Band

The Richland High School Marching Band is a fun and exciting Fall activity for any student 9-12th grade. The band is an important piece of RHS school culture and the goal is to always have our next show be our best show! The band performs at all home football games, festivals, parades, school assemblies and other community events. Opportunities for participation include brass, woodwinds, percussion, rhythm section and color guard. Enrollment in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic or Freshman concert band is strongly encouraged.

Basketball Band

Basketball band runs from November through February and is open to all eligible music students. There are 1-3 rehearsals before the season starts, followed by games typically on Tuesdays, Fridays and/or Saturday evenings.

Pit Orchestra for Musicals

Typically in the winter. Great professional experience!
