Band

Concert Bands

• Concert Band - All 9th grade wind and percussion NOT in Wind Ensemble. No audition required.
• Symphonic Band - All 10-12th grade wind and percussion NOT in Wind Ensemble. No audition required.
• Wind Ensemble - Our top performing concert band, by audition only.

Auditions will happen the spring prior to the school year. Information will be available well in advance at RHS and all middle schools. 

Students enrolled in a core large ensemble (band, orchestra or choir class during the day) are eligible to participate in auxiliary ensembles such as jazz band, marching band, basketball band or pit orchestra.

Jazz Bands

• Jazz Band 1 - Select standard big band instrumentation, by audition only.
• Jazz Band 2 - No audition required. Open to all eligible music students in 10th-12th grade.
• Freshman Jazz Band - 1st period jazz band for eligible 9th grade students. There are many zero hour classes offered to make this schedule work perfect. 

Auditions for band 1 happen in September.

Basketball Band

Basketball band runs from November through February and is open to all eligible music students. There are 1-3 rehearsals before the season starts, followed by games typically on Tuesdays, Fridays and/or Saturday evenings. Fun!

Pit Orchestra for Musicals

Typically in the winter. Great professional experience!

Marching Band

The Richland High School Marching Band is a fun and exciting Fall activity for any student 9-12th grade. Enrollment in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic or Freshman concert band is strongly encouraged. The band performs at all home football games, festivals, parades, school assemblies and community events. Opportunities for participation include brass, woodwinds, percussion, rhythm section and color guard. All are welcome, though some sections and positions require auditions and/or interviews.

The Richland Marching Band brings pride to our school and community with fun, energetic performances. The band is an important piece of our school culture and contributes to every event it performs at through relevant and engaging music. Our goal is to always have our next show be our best show. Travel for performances could include playoff football games and local or regional festivals, parades or events.
